Puoi farlo con la libreria di Apache Commons Compress. Puoi scaricare la versione 1.2 da http://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.apache.commons/commons-compress/1.2 .

Ecco due metodi: uno che decomprime un file e un altro che lo unifica. Quindi, per un file <fileName> tar.gz, è necessario prima decomprimerlo e poi decomprimerlo. Si noti che l'archivio tar può contenere anche cartelle, caso in cui devono essere create sul filesystem locale.
